Linda’s passion for creating vegan desserts stems from a lifetime dedicated to health, wellness, and the culinary arts. Growing up in the 1950s in Toronto, she learned the art of Eastern European baking from her grandmother, Rose. The warmth of the oven, the scent of freshly prepared pastries, and her grandmother’s creativity sparked Linda’s early love for food.
At age 11, a diagnosis of severe allergies to dairy, wheat, eggs, fish, and meat forced her to rethink everything she knew about eating. Her body had struggled with chronic asthma and eczema—conditions that conventional medicine had failed to ease. Out of necessity, she adopted a vegan lifestyle, and the results were nothing short of transformative. Her symptoms faded, and she experienced first hand the healing power of food.
Even as a child, Linda’s curiosity about ingredients was insatiable. She would explore grocery aisles, meticulously reading labels and questioning how foods were made. That fascination evolved into a lifelong pursuit of knowledge, leading her to earn diplomas in Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Herbalism, Aromatherapy, and Iridology. With this deep holistic foundation, she established an Ayurvedic spa retreat center, where she guided clients toward healing through nutrition, lifestyle, and ancient Ayurvedic practices, while also teaching vegan cooking classes.
In 2014, Linda’s passion took a new and unexpected turn to creating raw vegan, gluten-free cakes. What started as a creative experiment in her kitchen in Nelson, BC, soon became a revelation. When she debuted her first cake creations at the local farmers’ market, the response was electric. Customers lined up, and her cakes sold out in record time. Soon after, she became known as "The Cake Lady."
Over the past decade, Linda has developed more than 80 irresistible flavors through her company, Rawsa, expanding her offerings to include nut-free, keto-friendly, diabetic-friendly, and mini-cake options. Her cakes are more than just desserts—they bring comfort, joy, and indulgence while catering to a wide range of dietary needs. With her unwavering dedication to quality and innovation, she continues to captivate and delight an ever-growing community of devoted customers.
